Seniors Real Estate Specialists: Providing expert advice to seniors for their housing needs
According to the US Census Bureau 7900 people will turn 60 every single day. This 55 and older demographic is a powerful force in the real estate market today and an increasingly powerful force in the future of real estate.
The NAR (National Association of REALTORS) 2006 Profile of Homebuyers and Sellers Survey found "The homeownership rate 80 percent for households in their 60s and peaks at nearly 83 percent for households in their early 70s". The aging demographic has specific concerns that need to be addressed where real estate is concerned. Some of these concerns include:
- Need for conventional housing and active retirement communities.
- Need for housing in assisted communities.
- Need for Home modifications to accommodate physical limitations.
- Assistance with Capital Gains and Tax issues.
The baby boomer generation also has a unique set of circumstances involved in their real estate needs.
They could be seeking to upsize their housing situation to accommodate an "in-law" arrangement to care for elder parents. They could also seek additional housing space to accommodate the return of a child from college.
